Yogi Adityanath led UP government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the circumstances of 1984 anti-Sikh riots that led to the assassination of the Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) will constitute of four officials including Retired DGP, UP Atul, Retired Additional Director Yogeshwar Krishna Srivastava and Retired District Judge SC Agarwal and a senior level official from Uttar Pradesh.

The SIT has been given a time period of six months to investigate the matter in which around 2800 Sikhs were killed across the country and 2100 of them being killed in Delhi only.

To avenge their massacre, Indira Gandhi's Sikh Bodyguards killed her on October 31, 1984.
