Bhai Dooj, a special festival commemorating to the pious relation of brother and sister is celebrated right after Diwali. However, there has been significant confusion over the correct date and shubh muhurat regarding the Puja and when will it be observed.
Based on religious scriptures, this festival is celebrated on the second lunar day of Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month of the Hindi Calendar, and as per Drik Panchang Bhai Dooj will be celebrated tomorrow October 26th.
Regarding the Shubh Muhurat for Puja and ritual, the suitable timing will last for over 2 hours and 14 minutes from 01.12 PM to 03.27 PM. Timing for Dwitiya Tithi will be beginning from 02.42 PM on October 26th, while 12.45 PM on October 27th, is scheduled as the ending timing for Dwitiya Tithi.

On this day of Bhai Dooj, sisters pray for their brother’s healthy and prosperous life. Sisters observe fast for their brothers while performing Katha and Puja based on the set rituals. Sisters apply Tika and Akshat and make them swallow Gram, which is believed will make their brother strong.

The story behind Bhai Dooj:
It is believed that once Yamaraj visited his sister Yami. She had put tilak on her brother's forehead and fed him special dishes on his visit. Impressed by the affection and love, Yamraj asked his sister for a boon.
She wished for his visit every year, she asked any sister who does the rituals and applies the tilak shall not fear the god’s death. Pleased, Yamraj granted the wish, and since then the day is celebrated and is also known as Yama Dwitiya, prominently in the southern part of the country.
