A man died of drug addiction at Ludhiana Civil Hospital

Drug addiction, also called substance use disorder, is a disease that affects a person's brain and behavior and leads to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal drug or medication.

A man allegedly died of drug addiction at Ludhiana civil hospital on Sunday afternoon.

 He was brought to the hospital on Wednesday after his condition deteriorated. A video has gone viral in which his family says drugs killed him.

 The deceased, 32, hailed from Ferozepur. His wife said, “A few years ago, he started consuming drugs. He sold household goods and stole money to meet his addiction. He later regretted his addiction.” The family took the body to Ferozepur without an autopsy. Division 7 inspectorAmandeep Singh Brar
 said, “We have not received any complaint or information from the family or hospital about it.”

Dr Charan Kamal said, “The patient had a history of drug addiction. De-addiction treatment was being given to him. He was referred to 
Rajindra Hospital thrice, but the family refused.”
