With a few days to go for the Jalandhar West Bye Elections 2024, political parties have intensified campaigning and also accusing each other of illegal activities. In a fresh attack, AAP leader Pawan Kumar Tinu who fought Lok Sabha Elections 2024 accused Congress' Jalandhar West Candidate Surinder Kaur of illegal construction on a commercial land by declaring it residential. AAP leader Pawan Tinu while interacting with the media on Sunday claimed that the illegal construction happened when Surinder Kaur was the Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Corporation. Tinu reached Deol Colony and made these allegations while showing a plot.
Pawan Kumar Tinu said, "Surinder Kaur has been the Deputy Mayor for five years, during this time she did not interact with people. She could not get a single work done in the entire West constituency. Surinder Kaur could not get the problems solved even in her area.... Surinder Kaur served her family instead of serving the people. More than 100 marla land was made commercial by a private company. But while being the deputy mayor, Surinder Kaur's son misused his position and converted the commercial land into residential land."
"Now the said plot is being divided and sold by making a colony. This was completely illegal work and political power was being misused. The matter did not stop here, the said plot was also connected to the government sewer system without any permission. Congress has been taking commissions everywhere" added Pawan Kumar Tinu assuring that a Vigilance investigation will be conducted into the entire matter. After which further action can be taken in the matter.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann slams Surinder Kaur
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday campaigned for the party's (AAP) candidate Mohinder Bhagat for the Jalandhar West Assembly by-election. Mann addressed several public meetings here and appealed to the people to make AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat win.
Mann attacked the Congress party and its candidate Surinder Kaur. He said that if she could not get the work of her ward done while being the deputy mayor of Jalandhar, then how will she get the work of such a big assembly constituency done? Mann said that the work of streets, drains and sewerage systems etc. comes under the Municipal Corporation. Currently, there is a Congress mayor in Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, but he did nothing for this. He did not even change the sewerage lid.
