Days after declining, Mohd Mustafa now accepts appointment as Principal Strategic Advisor to Sidhu

Former DGP Mohammad Mustafa has finally joined the team, days after he declined the offer by PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu to be one of the advisors. He has been appointed as the principal strategic advisor to Mr Sidhu.

According to Punjab Congress, he would also serve as PCC coordinator with the AICC.

"With immediate effect, Mr Mohd Mustafa (former IPS and DGP Punjab) has been appointed as Principal Strategic Advisor to PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu. He would also serve as PCC Coordinator with the AICC on issues relating to his domain, as well as any other matters that the President deems suitable," the statement issued by Punjab PCC stated.

Mustafa earlier declined the offer saying he has no role to play in politics. He also said thanked Navjot Sidhu and said at least there is one man in the Congress who thought of me in the last four and half years.

“It is a very touching gesture. Tears welled up in my eyes when I learnt about the appointment. But I have declined the offer as I am not cut out for political posts”, he said
Mohd Mustafa has shown confidence in the new Punjab Congress president and said that with Sidhu managing the party affairs and working to fulfil the party’s pre-poll promises, the Congress will come back to power in 2022.

The former DGP also said that it is his dream to see Sidhu as the next CM of Punjab.

Mustafa’s wife Razia Sultana is a minister in Chief Minister Amarinder Singh’s Cabinet and was earlier considered close to Captain Amarinder Singh.
