Despite not releasing in India, Sardaar Ji 3 has been running successfully at the global box office. Following the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 2, Diljit has been receiving criticism from all sides. While a few sections of fans are backing the Punjabi singer. Film bodies have given an ultimatum to Bollywood that Diljit should not get any work in India from now on.
Furthermore, they have written a letter to the Centre requesting the government to revoke Diljit's Indian passport. On the other hand, the Punjabi singer in an interview with the BBC had clarified that when the film was shot, the Pahalgam Terror Attack did not take place. Therefore, Diljit had decided to support the makers' decision to release the movie overseas and not in India. This decision by the Punjabi singer backfired, and he is still facing severe criticism.
In the meantime, Diljit on Tuesday night took to his Instagram story and shared a YouTuber's video in his story. In the video, the YouTuber comes in support of Diljit and puts forward a question whether India will stop playing cricket with Pakistan or not.
The YouTuber also reiterated Diljit's take, saying that the movie was shot well before the India-Pakistan tensions, and it is an Indian money that has been invested in the movie. The original video is from Sports Yari, and it often goes viral over cricket topics.
Notably, as per reports, BCCI has decided to play against Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
Sardaar Ji 3 Box Office Collection
As per the Sacnilk report published on July 1, Sardaar Ji 3 collected approximately Rs 18.1 crore ($2.1+ million) in its first three-day weekend. This marks the second-biggest opening weekend for a Punjabi film ever, trailing only Jatt & Juliet 3, which also featured Diljit in the lead role.
Breaking down the weekend earnings, the film grossed around Rs 4.30 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 6.75 crore on Saturday, and Rs 7 crore on Sunday. North America emerged as the film's biggest market, contributing approximately Rs 6.50 crore (around $760,000) to the weekend total.
Interestingly, Sardaar Ji 3 also set a new benchmark in Pakistan, registering the highest opening ever for an Indian film in the country. The movie earned nearly ₹3.85 crore (PKR 12.75 crore / $450,000) over the weekend, surpassing the previous 3-day weekend record held by Salman Khan's Sultan, which had opened with approximately PKR 11 crore back in 2016.
