Police have arrested ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh’s close aide, identified as Kulwant Singh. Kulwant Singh was arrested in Moga. He was absconding in the case regarding the attack on the Ajnala Police Station 10 months ago. He was produced in court and the court gave a 4 days’ remand, according to Ajnala DSP Riputapan Singh Sandhu.
On 23 February, Jathedar of 'Waris Punjab De' Amritpal Singh along with his supporters, attacked Ajnala police station. They were demanding the release of Amritpal’s close aide Lovepreet Toofan. FIR number 39 was registered in this case. The police had successfully arrested Amritpal Singh and sent him and his associates to Dibrugarh jail in Assam. Nine of his associates are also lodged in Dibrugarh.
Punjab and Haryana High Court has rejected an application from his behalf.
Meanwhile, Rural Police of Amritsar has also arrested Ajit Singh from Sangrur. At present he is being detained and interrogated. Soon he will be presented in the Ajnala court.
Amritpal and his supporters had stormed the Ajnala police station to demand the release of his close aide Lovepreet Toofan.
Ajnala police station was attacked by thousands of supporters of 'Waris Punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh. The attackers had brought swords and guns with them. Such was the situation that the officers were forced to retreat.
