Amritpal Singh's aunt released after 3 hours of questioning; NIA's action against attack on Indian High Commission

NIA officers took Amritpal Singh's aunt Amarjit Kaur with them to Beas police station, where she was questioned for about 3 hours.

In a major development, Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh's aunt Amarjit Kaur on Friday morning was detained by the NIA. NIA conducted three raids in multiple cities of Punjab including Amritsar and Moga. NIA searched the houses of Amritpal Singh's relatives including his uncle Pragat Singh. The raid was also conducted at Amritpal's brother-in-law and brother-in-law's brother-in-law's houses. 

During the raid, the NIA team detained Pragat Singh's wife Amarjit Kaur. The officers took her with them to Beas police station, where she was questioned for about 3 hours.

Amritpal Singh's uncle Pragat Singh works in furniture. After being released from Beas police station at around 1 pm, Amritpal Singh's aunt reportedly informed that she and Pragat Singh have been called to Chandigarh for questioning on September 26. She informed that a case was registered against Pragat Singh last year, and this raid has been conducted in connection with that.

It has been revealed that the NIA conducted this raid in connection with the attack on the Indian High Commission in Canada by Khalistan supporters on 23 March 2023. For the unversed, after the arrest of Amritpal Singh, Khalistan supporters demonstrated outside the Indian High Commissions in Canada, the US, and the UK. During the demonstration outside the Indian Embassy in Canada, the tricolor was insulted and vandalised. After which in June, the NIA registered an FIR and started an investigation.
