The murder case of Ludhiana influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabhi aka Kanchan Kumari has shocked the entire Punjab and has also sparked a debate. Bathinda SSP on Saturday revealed that Kamal Kaur was murdered over her social media videos, which the accused believed were 'vulgar' and 'misleading youth.' The arrested suspects have been identified as 32-year-old Jaspreet Singh from Mehru (Moga) and 21-year-old Nimnarjeet Singh from Tarn Taran. The alleged mastermind, Amritpal Singh Meharon, remains absconding. Police teams are actively searching for him. Now, another influencer from Punjab Deepika Luthra has become a talking point.
A video of Amritpal Singh Meharon on Thursday went viral in which he issued threats to another influencer named Deepika Luthra. For those who are unaware, Deepika Luthra is a popular Instagram influencer from Amritsar who has almost 3 lakh followers. It has been alleged that she has received death threats from Amritpal Singh Mehron, the prime accused in the murder of Ludhiana-based influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabi alias Kanchan Kumari.
As per reports, Deepika filed a police complaint seeking protection for herself and her family after Mehron allegedly warned her to stop posting 'vulgar' content or face the same fate as Kamal Kaur. According to Deepika, Mehron threatened her through a video message, stating ominously, “This time a body was found, next time it won’t be.”
Deepika, who hails from a middle-class family and has been creating digital content for the past five years, claims that Mehron had previously summoned her under false pretenses and forced her to publicly apologize in March. A video of this apology was later shared on her Instagram account on March 26. Deepika revealed that Mehron had instructed her not to delete the video, and she complied out of fear.
Dainik Bhasker quoted Deepika saying, "I’ve stopped making double-meaning content..Now I only focus on fashion, lifestyle, and paid promotions. I understand my responsibility. But does that justify threatening to kill someone? My entire family is under stress and didn’t even go to work today.”
Deepika continues to live in fear. “If anything happens to me or my family, the government and police will be responsible,” she said.
What did Amritpal Singh Mehron say about Deepika in viral video?
Following the arrests, Mehron released a video on Friday claiming responsibility for the murder and issued a warning to other influencers, including Deepika. “This kind of content is ruining Punjab’s youth,” he said in the video, adding, “There are parking lots in every city, and a body doesn’t always have to be found.”
Police have intensified their efforts to track down Mehron, who remains at large. Multiple teams have been deployed to apprehend him.
