In a horrifying incident, a woman pregnant with twins was set on fire allegedly by her husband in a fit of rage on Friday. The 23-year-old woman, who was six months pregnant, died on the spot, the police said. Police said the couple had a heated argument on Friday after which the accused, Sukhdev tied the deceased, identified as Pinky, to a cot (bed) and set her on fire.
As per reports, the grisly incident took place at the couple’s home in Buled Nangal village in Rayya area of Amritsar on Friday. Giving details, the police said that the couple had a strained relationship and used to frequently quarrel over various issues. The husband-wife duo got into another heated tiff which escalated and Sukhdev, in a fit of rage, tied Pinky to a cot in the front yard of their house and set her on fire.
Sukhdev fled the spot after committing the heinous act and is currently absconding. According to reports, a case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), has been registered against Sukhdev and investigation is underway to trace him and nab him at the earliest.
