The former Police Commissioner had moved the High Court asking for “immediate and unbiased” probe against Anil Deshmukh.

The allegation is that Anil Deshmukh had asked police officer Sachin Waze to collect Rupees 100 crore per month from bars and restaurants.

Further, the plea claims that Anil Deshmukh held meetings at his residence with several Mumbai police officials including the above-mentioned Sachin Waze.

The plea by the former Police Commissioner continues that in these meetings the police officers were instructed by Anil Deshmukh to collect Rs 100 crore per month from various establishments.

Further, Anil Deshmukh regularly derailed police functioning and his misuse of his office was a routine affair.

Param Bir Singh had moved the Supreme Court challenging his transfer and seeking CBI enquiry. His plea was rejected citing that he needs to approach the Mumbai High Court first.

Param Bir Singh claims that when he approached the Chief Minister Thackeray on March 17, thereafter no time was wasted in having Param Bir Singh transferred to Home Guards Department.

In this, Singh claims that he was not even allowed to complete “minimum fixed tenure of two years”.

Later on, Deshmukh, the person against whom these allegations have been made cited the Chief Minister, “Maharashtra CM has decided that the allegations levelled against me by former Mumbai Police Commissioner will be probed by a retired High Court judge” claiming in writing that there is “no truth” in the allegations.

All in all, the theatrics of resignation is creating a hue and cry and may help getting public attention. However, the same is not anticipated to provide any form of relief from the legal proceedings.
