Armed robbery in Jalandhar: Local store owner held at gunpoint in Mathura Nagar

In the latest spree of thievery and robbery news from Jalandhar, this morning, a local grocery store in Mathura Nagar Jalandhar was held at gunpoint and was robbed of near 30000 INR by 2 individuals who reportedly arrived on a bike. The individuals were armed with sharp weapons and revolvers and demanded cash from the owner while threatening to shoot him.

Vinod Kumar, owner of the police explained the details of the robbery to the police. He said that the bandits,of which there were 2, arrived on a bike and immediately pulled out the revolvers threatening to shoot up the place while demanding the cash that owner had in the shop. Vinod informs that he had 19,000 INR from previous day’s earnings and 2300 INR from this morning. One of the robber also reportedly stepped on Vinod’s chest after pushing him to the ground threatening fatal physical harm.

The robbers left with 30000 INR in cash and with 5000 INR worth of goods from the store and also took the CCTV DVR along with them to avoid being identified.

The police arrived promptly at the scene of the crime after being alerted and assures that a police investigation has been launched into the matter. A case has been registered and attempts to identify and apprehend the individuals are underway. The number or cases involving thievery and robbery in Jalandhar have been rising in recent times and this latest development have caused some panic in the local community.
