Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat received the Param Vishisht Seva Medal for his peace-time services from the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday. This military medal is not related to gallantry but for peace-time service.

The Army Chief is a decorated officer with Sena Medal, Yuddh Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Uttam Yuddh Seva Medal. 

General Rawat has become the 19th official to receive the Param Vishisht Seva Medal.

More gallantry awards like Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra and others were also bestowed by the President on Thursday.

Major Tushar Gauba of 20 Jat Regiment was bestowed with the Kirti Chakra for combatting and killing three terrorists along the LoC in Kupwara region of Jammu and Kashmir as reported by the news sources.

The other recipients of Kirti Chakra were Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh, Rajendra Nain, Ravindra Babban Dhanwade posthumously.
