The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has apprehended Rajwinder Singh (now retired), clerk posted in Civil Surgeon Office, Pathankot for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs Rs 35000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned clerk has been arrested on an online complaint lodged by Satnam Singh, a resident of Onkar Nagar, Pathankot on the Chief Minister Anti Corruption Action Line.
He further informed that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that the said clerk had obtained a bribe of Rs 35,000 from him in lieu of passing his medical bills amounting to Rs 3,13,486.
The spokesperson informed that during investigation of this complaint it was proved that the said clerk had taken a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant for the above said motive by forging a sanction letter issued by Director Health & Family Welfare, Punjab. It was also found that during his tenure he had forged 16 sanction letters and has caused loss of lakhs of rupees to the state exchequer.
He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at VB police station Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation was under progress, he said.
