In an interesting turn of events, Moroccan footballer Ashraf Hakimi, who also is the star left-back of football giants Paris St-Germain, is being divorced by his wife Hiba Abouk. An amusing incident occurred when the couple arrived in divorce court. Hiba Abouk petitioned the court to award her half of her husband’s property and assets. What happened next left many laughing as the court informed her that Hakimi had nothing to his name to begin with. Everything that the footballer has earned during his illustrious career is in his mother’s name. In fact, 80% of his monthly earnings from PSG go directly to his mother. This left Abouk red-faced as many jeered at her failed attempt.
As of now, Abouk’s lawyers have asked for an extension. They have to decide the next course of action and approach the case from a new perspective. The prognosis doesn’t seem positive though as her case doesn’t seem to have a leg to stand on. Legally speaking, there is next to no precedence that would allow Abouk to ask for money that belongs to Hakimi’s mother. Whether this was a smart and well thought out plan on the Moroccan’s part, or a stroke of luck that came the way of a devoted son, the case has taken an interesting turn. We must now wait with bated breathes to see which way the tide will turn in this high-profile divorce trial.
