Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Thursday confirmed that a raid was conducted on Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann's official residence in New Delhi. AAP leader Atishi stated that a team of Delhi Police reached Punjab CM's house in Delhi i.e. Kapurthala House and accused the BJP of doing petty politics. However, it was reported that a team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) raided the Kapurthala House. But, later ANI quoted an ECI source who denied EC's raid at Kapurthala House.
The EC Source said, "The Election Commission of India has not conducted any raid on the Delhi residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Kapurthala House."
Delhi CM Atishi on her X wrote, "(Translated version) Delhi Police has reached to raid @BhagwantMann ji's house in Delhi. BJP people are distributing money, shoes, sheets in broad daylight - that is not visible. Instead, they go to raid the residence of an elected Chief Minister. Wow BJP! People of Delhi will give their answer on 5th!"
Notably, the raid at Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann's Kapurthala residence comes a day after Delhi Police seized a suspicious vehicle outside Punjab Bhavan. A suspicious car with the text 'Punjab Sarkar' was seized by Delhi Police on Wednesday. Cash, liquor and AAP brochores and stickers were recovered from the car.
In response, Punjab's Department of Transport issued a statement and outlined that the number plate of the seized car by the Police was forged and fake. "It has come to the knowledge of Department of Transport (Govt of Punjab), that a vehicle carrying registration number PB35AE1342 has been apprehended in Delhi carrying illegal liquor and some unaccounted cash. It has been alleged in the media reports that the vehicle has a sticker of Punjab Government on it."
"As per official record, it is found that the vehicle is registered in the name of Maj. Anubhav Shivpuri who was posted in Army Dental College, Pathankot 3 years back and is a permanent resident of Khadki, Maharashtra. Moreover, the registered vehicle model on the registration number PB35AE1342 is the Ford Eco Sport of make year 2018 but the actual vehicle apprehended by the police belongs to the Hyundai Creta series. This confirms that the vehicle's number plate is forged and fake. High-Security Registration Plate(HSRP) is mandatory for all vehicles and the registration plate visible in the video is an ordinary one, without the features of HSRP, hence easy to forge. Also. We have searched our records and found that no such vehicle is owned or hired by the Government of Punjab. The apprehended vehicle does not belong to the Government of Punjab at all."
