Baazigar is an Indian Hindi-language romantic thriller film. It is directed by Abbas–Mustan and is produced by Venus Movies. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in lead roles. Siddharth, Shilpa Shetty, Raakhee, Dalip Tahil, and Johnny Lever are seen in supporting roles. The movie is sort of based on Ira Levin's 1953 novel titled A Kiss Before Dying.

The storyline of the movie revolves around a young man played by Shah Rukh Khan, who seeks to take revenge for the fall of his family and makes it the mission of his life.

The movie was released on 12th November 1993, coinciding with Diwali. The film was declared a blockbuster at the box office with a gross of Rs 320 million worldwide. The movie ranked as the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.

Akshay Kumar was the first choice to play the leading role in the movie but he denied due to the negativity of the role. Then the role was offered to Anil Kapoor but he refused due to the scheduling conflict with Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja movie. Following which, Salman Khan got the offer to play the lead role, but his father Salim Khan denied because of the dark tone of the script. Eventually, the movie was then offered to Shah Rukh Khan.

Initially, actress Sridevi was going to play both the female roles as twin sisters, but then the director realized that due to her popularity, the audience would not sympathize with the hero.

The movie has received multiple awards. At the 39th Filmfare Awards, it received a total of 10 nominations, including Best Film, Best Supporting Actress and Best Female Debut. It won 4 awards, including Best Actor and Best Music Director.
