Bhagwant Mann Goindwal Sahib Power Plant: What seemed impossible for once, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took multiple revolutionary decisions that have brought the entire nation's attention to the state. Bhagwant Mann fulfilled his pre-poll promise when he announced free electricity for up to 300 units in common households. Now, under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has bought the Goindwal Sahib Power Plant in order to further lessen the electricity price.
The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has inaugurated the 540 MW KGVK Company thermal plant located in Goindwal Sahib by purchasing it for Rs 1080 crore. Now it has been named as Shree Guru Amar Das Thermal Plant. By purchasing this thermal plant, not only there will be electricity, but crores of rupees of the government will also be saved.
As per the agreement made earlier, even if this thermal plant did not operate, the government had to pay crores of rupees to the company as per the agreement. Earlier, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the power department of Punjab achieved a major achievement by restarting the Pichhwara coal mine located in Jharinda which was closed for 7 years. The biggest benefit of running the coal mine is that during the monsoon season, not a single thermal plant in Punjab was closed due to a shortage of coal, and along with that, crores of rupees that would have been spent on buying coal from outside Powercom were also saved.
It is noteworthy that during the rainy season, there used to be a huge shortage of electricity but due to the adequate supply of coal, this time there was no shortage of electricity and farmers got an uninterrupted supply of electricity.
