At Khanauri, close to Moonak in Sangrur, the Ghaggar River's water level on Tuesday exceeded the danger threshold. At 11 am, the river’s water level climbed up to 749.7 feet, higher than the danger mark of 748.2 feet, and further raised to 750.2 at 8 pm. Farmers stated that the unstable Ghaggar embankments had not been repaired, while officials maintained that strong water flow was to blame for the damage.

"Since the start of water in Ghaggar, we have been repeatedly asking the officers to repair the weak points of Ghaggar. But they did not pay any heed and were taking rounds just to fulfill formality” alleged Gurmeet Singh, a farmer of the area. His entire paddy has been submerged under water.

“The situation has been the same for the last many years as officers did not conduct proper repair, while after breaches, the authorities come and make big announcements,” said Satwant Singh, another farmer of the area.
