Bhindranwale’s nephew & 13th head of Damdami Taksal killed in sleep with sword by drug addict servant

Bhai Balwinder Singh had scolded the accused servant of Gurudwara for taking drugs and threatened to throw him out of the Gurudwara.

Balwinder Singh Khalsa, nephew of Sant Kartar Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, was attacked and killed with a sword on Tuesday night. Bhai Balwinder Singh was the 13th head of Damdami Taksal and chief spokesperson of Sant Samaj in Gurdaspur, Punjab.

 

As per reports, Bhai Balwinder Singh had scolded the accused servant of Gurudwara for taking drugs and threatened to throw him out. Due to this, the accused attacked Balwinder Singh Khalsa with a sword killing him on the spot. The police have taken the body into their custody and sent it for postmortem.

 

The Servant was addicted to drugs

According to the police, the young man who committed the murder, Ramandeep Singh, had become addicted to drugs, due to which Bhai Balwinder Singh Khalsa had scolded him and threatened to throw him out of the Gurudwara. Bhai Balwinder Singh was sleeping at his residence, located a short distance away from the Gurudwara. The accused, Ramandeep, then attacked Bhai Balwinder Singh late at night with a sword. Police is conducting raids to arrest the accused. As per reports they are scanning a CCTV video that has also surfaced in which the accused youth is seen running away after committing the crime.

 

Bhai Balwinder Singh Khalsa was the head of Gurdwara Guru Ramdas Sahib near Kasba Ghuman in Batala and conducted services at Gurdwara Sahib. His house was reportedly near the Gurudwara Sahib.

Damdami Taksal is a Sikh educational organization. Its headquarters are located in the town of Mehta Chowk, approximately 40 km north of the city of Amritsar. It was brought to national and international attention by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who has also been the head of this organization. Bhindranwala was killed on 6 June 1984 during Operation Blue Star at the Golden Temple. This attack on the Golden Temple, left the religious place completely damaged inciting outrage from Sikhs. This is why the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own bodyguards.
