Bhulath Police arrest one accused in sacrilege case at local Gurudwara Sahib, FIR filed

August 17, Kapurthala: Bhulath police arrested one accused on Friday in connection with a case of sacrilege at a local Gurdwara Sahib of village Bhagwanpur.The police have registered a case against the accused. The protest being held by the public outside the government hospital in Bhulath was called off late at night after the case was registered. Kapurthala SSP claimed that the situation is peaceful after the case was filed.

It is to be mentioned that a man was arrested on Friday afternoon in connection with allegations of sacrilege at the Shri Gurdwara Sahib in Bhagwanpur village of Bhulath. The angry crowd had beaten the young man after apprehending him. The accused was admitted to the government hospital in an injured state. Following this incident, the atmosphere in the area became tense, and Sikh organizations began a protest outside the Bhulath hospital. Given the tense situation, the SSP, along with other senior officials, reached the scene, and a heavy police force was deployed throughout the area.

The protest, which continued until late at night, was called off after assurances were given by SSP Kapurthala, Vatsala Gupta. The SSP assured that strict action would be taken against the accused young man. According to information provided by the police, the FIR registered at Bhulath police station states that Granthi Tarandeep Singh of Shri Gurdwara Sahib reported that around 2:30 PM on Friday, when he arrived at the Gurdwara Sahib with his friend Mohan Singh, they saw that the lock on the Gurdwara's gate was broken, and inside, a young man was taking money from the donation box. He had placed the holy Guru Granth Sahib to one side and had torn 5-6 sacred pages, showing disrespect. This act deeply hurt the sentiments of the public.After receiving information about the incident, other members also arrived at the Gurdwara Sahib.

The accused was identified as Hardev Singh, son of Kashmir Singh, a resident of Dograwal village, under the jurisdiction of Subhanpur police station. Based on the statement of complainant Tarandeep Singh, the Bhulath police station registered an FIR against Hardev Singh under sections 299, 331, and 305 of the IPC.
