In a big jolt to the BJP ahead of Jalandhar West Bye Election 2024, former Deputy Mayor Kamaljit Singh Bhatia on Monday joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Kamaljit Singh Bhatia reached the house of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann in Jalandhar.

This is a big setback for the BJP before the elections, because Bhatia was considered very close to Sheetal Angural and former MP Sushil Kumar Rinku. Notably, a large vote bank in the West constituency was reportedly with Bhatia. In such a situation, his joining AAP ten days before the elections can harm the BJP.

As per reports, Kamaljit Bhatia had campaigned vigorously for BJP candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku during the Lok Sabha Bye Polls. Other associates of Bhatia including MLA Raman Arora from Jalandhar Central constituency were also present with him.

In the meantime, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Sunday highlighted the BJP candidate from Jalandhar west Sheetal Angural in the case of extortion. Sheetal Angural's brother Rajan Angural, on the behalf of his brother allegedly threatened and extorted lakhs of rupees from a person named Sandeep Kumar.

AAP Punjab chief spokesperson and member parliament Malvinder Singh Kang, along with chairman Jagtar Singh Sanghera and Jalandhar district (urban) secretary Gurinder Singh Shergill, addressed a press conference in Jalandhar on Sunday where he with evidences told the media about this criminal case against the Angural brothers.
