Fresh weather updates for Punjab have just come in, saying a major storm is on its way. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms and lightning across several districts. According to the update, there is a strong chance of winds of 40–60 km/h, thunder, and even hail between now and 6:20 PM.

Cities on alert in Punjab

The warning covers districts like Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Moga, Firozpur, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, and Amritsar. However, a sudden shift in the weather has brought some much-needed relief to the people of Punjab from the heat across the state, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the storm warning.

In Patti, Tarn Taran, hail has already cooled things down, and chilly winds have started blowing in several areas. The department strongly urges people to stay indoors, avoid trees and unstable structures, and be cautious around electrical appliances. Your safety is our priority, so please only step out if absolutely necessary.

Rain Expected on April 19 and 20

Earlier, the department had already predicted rainfall on April 19 and 20, which should help bring temperatures down by 2 to 4 degrees. An orange alert has also been issued for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh, and Nawanshahr, warning of possible rain and thunderstorms.

It's advised to enjoy the cool weather indoors only (having your favorite chai and pakoras) and avoid putting yourself in any danger. Alert your family and friends now, and stay safe. Share this important information with your loved ones to ensure their safety as well. There could be power cuts due to the storm, so charge your devices to play soothing music as you feel the weather cool down in mid-April.
