An old interview of Farooq Ahmed Dar aka Bitta Karate, who came into the limelight from the recently released film 'The Kashmir Files', is going viral. In this interview, Bitta had confessed to killing 20 Kashmiri Pandits. 

In an interview given to the media, Bitta Karate says that he had murdered 20 Kashmiri Pandits. Apart from this, in a conversation with media source, Bitta had also stated the Pakistan connection of the separatist leaders of Kashmir.

During an interview given in 1991, Bitta says that even if he was ordered to kill his mother or brother, he would not hesitate to kill them too.

Bitta also narrates how he started a series of massacres in the Valley with the murder of 22-year-old Kashmiri Pandit Satish Kumar Tikku. Bitta gave this interview during his detention in 1991.

Training from Pakistan, panic in Kashmir

In response, Bitta said that perhaps he was from the RSS. Bitta claimed that he had shot Kashmiri Pandits either in the head or in the heart. 

He also says that he never missed his target. However, he later retracted his statement of murder in court.

Bitta had admitted in the interview that he came to Kashmir after taking training from Pakistan and became a terrorist. He alleged that the local administration had done a lot of atrocities on Kashmiris, due to which he turned to terrorism. 

At that time his age was only 20-21 years. He also told that he used pistols to kill common people and used An-47 to attack security forces.

Who is Bitta Karate?

Bitta Karate is a separatist leader who was jailed in Kashmir on charges related to the killing of innocent people and terrorism. He was also arrested under the Public Safety Act. Bitta had more than 19 insurgency-related cases. He was also arrested during the Amarnath controversy in 2008.

Bitta was a trend in martial arts, so people started applying karate at the end of his name. Bitta Karate spent nearly 16 years behind bars, finally on October 23, 2006, he was released on bail by a TADA court. 

Bitta's organization JKLF declared a unilateral ceasefire in 1994 and decided to launch a non-violent movement. However, before this, he and his organization spread a lot of violence at gunpoint, about which Bitta himself has confessed.

In 2017, the exploits of this Kashmiri separatist leader were exposed in India Today's special investigation report 'Operation Villain of the Valley'. He and his men were caught on camera admitting to receiving money from Pakistan. 

Following the revelations by India Today, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had tightened the noose on some separatist leaders in Kashmir.
