15-year-old boy electrocuted to death after flag pole came in contact with electric cable in Karnataka

The 15 years boy was holding the metal pole to hoist the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day.

 On Sunday, a tragic incident happened in Karnataka’s Tumakuru, a 15 years old boy died, two were severely burned, of electric shock while hoisting the national flag at the village school. The boy was holding the metal pole and was hoisting the national flag on the occasion of 75th Independence Day, the flag pole came in contact with live electric wire.

The deceased boy was identified as Chandan, who was hoisting the flag with two other boys, identified as Shashank and Pawan. All three were hoisting the flag on Sunday morning and were electrocuted. Teenagers were rushed to the Sridevi Medical College Hospital, where Chandan was declared “brought dead” and the other two are undergoing treatment. As per the information, three were alumni of the school. 

Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh has offered condolence to the family of the deceased and has urged the school to ensure all required facilities for the other two students. 

Deputy Director of Public Instruction C Nanjaiah blamed Bescom for the accident as the power line goes over the school premises. Several requests have been made to shift the line but the power supply company officials have not responded, he further said.

A case has been registered by Kora Police and an investigation is underway. Education Minister told the media daily, The New Indian Express that action would be taken once Deputy Commissioner YS Patil files a report.
