The Jalandhar Smart City Project has been under works for a long time. A big part of the project directly concerned the Jalandhar West constituency, for example, the 120 feet road and the Bastian of Jalandhar. With the Jalandhar West bye-polls just around the corner, the voters have started raising pertinent question about the former deputy mayor and Congress candidate Surinder Kaur, and her inaction during her tenure.
Congress candidate for the Jalandhar West Assembly seat, Surinder Kaur, was previously a deputy mayor for the Municipal Corporation of this area. The corporation is directly involved in the implementation and planning of the smart city projects. The incomplete projects have resulted in Jalandhar taking a nosedive in the smart city status.
Despite AAP government’s formation, the Corporation was still under Congress as Surinder Kaur was posted as the deputy mayor. Surinder Kaur is facing the wrath of the people of Jalandhar West for not stepping out of her house for 20 years and making false election promises in her wards. In whichever area she goes, the voters are asking big questions, which have no answers. People were deprived of basic facilities during Surinder Kaur's tenure. Not only this, but Jalandhar West residents are also pointed out that Surinder Kaur was silent when thousands of crores of Smart City funds were embezzled.
Conversely, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann himself stepped in to aid the party and fulfil the promises made to the Jalandhar citizens. The CM taking residence in Jalandhar and providing his invaluable expertise to the election campaign has given the people hope that their grievances will finally be heard and the problems will be solved if Mohinder Bhagat of Aam Aadmi Party is declared the victor on polling results.
