Though there is no official update regarding the post or portfolio offered to Navjot Sidhu, sources say the meeting has been fruitful.

Accompanied by Sports Minister Rana Gurmeet Sodhi, the Former Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu finally met Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh over a high tea this evening at his residence in Chandigarh.

Navjot Sidhu and CM Capt Amarinder Singh had been at loggerheads for nearly past one-and-a-half years, and this meeting today when the elections are just a year away indicates that this is definitely an attempt to melt the ice and reinduct Sidhu into the Cabinet or offer him a even bigger role.

Meanwhile, there is no official information from the chief minister’s office regarding the outcome of the meeting, the Media Advisor to the CM Capt Amarinder, Raveen Thukral shared a picture from the meeting with a caption, ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’.

After the meeting even Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted “Azad Raho Vicharoan Se Lekin Raho Sanskaroan Se.. Tankee Aas Aur Vishwas rahe Kirdaroan pe”.

Even hours before Navjot Sidhu was to meet CM Capt Amarinder, Sidhu’s wife Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu on her social media accounts said, "Whatever will be discussed in today's meeting, the decision Navjot will take completely depends on him. He since the very beginning has always made huge sacrifices for the state and its people. Therefore, if he thinks that he will be able to contribute to the welfare of the state, he will accept the position and if he thinks he cannot work for the state's welfare then he has no interest in the position in the Punjab government."

Interestingly, in February Congress president Sonia Gandhi met Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab affairs in charge Harish Rawat met Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to discuss rehabilitation of the cricketer-turned-politician, and it seems like big news regarding Sidhu’s reinduction is expected anytime soon.

Even Rawat and AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal, both were present when Sidhu had met the party president last month.
