A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi, which was investigating the UGC NET paper leak case, was attacked in Nawada, Bihar. The incident occurred on Saturday when the team reached Kasiyadih village, under the jurisdiction of Rajauli police station. This attack resulted in the arrest of four individuals. Superintendent of Police Ambrish Rahul confirmed the arrests on Sunday.

The CBI team had arrived in Kasiyadih based on the mobile location of a suspect linked to the paper leak. However, the villagers mistook the team for imposters and assaulted them, vandalizing their vehicles. The team, which included four officers and a local woman constable, faced significant hostility.

Alarmed by the villagers' aggression, the CBI team quickly alerted the Rajauli police. The local police managed to pacify the situation and ensure the safety of the CBI officers. Following the intervention, the CBI team resumed their investigation with the local police's presence. During the search, two mobile phones were seized from the location, which could be crucial to the investigation.

Rajesh Kumar, the in-charge of Rajauli police station, stated that an FIR has been filed against eight named individuals and 150-200 unnamed villagers for their involvement in the attack on the CBI team. Among those arrested are a villager named Prince Kumar and a woman. The authorities have videotaped the incident, which is being used to identify other involved individuals.

This attack has raised concerns about the safety of investigative teams working in sensitive areas. The CBI is now collaborating closely with local law enforcement to ensure such incidents do not recur and that the investigation into the UGC NET paper leak continues unimpeded.

The incident underscores the challenges faced by investigative agencies in conducting their duties and the importance of ensuring their protection while they carry out their crucial work. The CBI's continued efforts aim to bring the culprits of the paper leak to justice, despite the obstacles encountered.
