In a tragic development, a 13-year-old boy died by drowning in a swimming pool in Jalandhar on Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Madhav, resident of Basti Danishmanda, Jalandhar, Punjab. The deceased’s body was found and put in the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
The deceased’s father, Bheem Bahadur told that his family are originally from Nepal. Madhav, along with his friend Ganesh had gone to the Royal Swimming pool in Sun city colony, Jalandhar at around 5 PM. However, while his friend had returned early, Madhav did not return. The family reached the swimming pool looking for their son, where they found Madhav’s body in the pool in an unresponsive state.
The owner informed that the swimming pool’s closing time had been at 6 PM. However, the children were staying late. The boys were jumping in and out of the swimming pool. At the time of the incident, there was a person that was cleaning the pool.
The area fell under the Lambra Police Station’s jurisdiction, so the Lambra police were informed. Lambra police station ASI Niranjan Singh reached the scene with the police team. In the CCTV video of the incident, Madhav could be seen jumping in and out of the swimming pool. After a while, Madhav made a dive into the swimming pool but did not surface again. His friends, unaware of his status, took their clothes and went home.
The family reached the swimming pool searching for him after he didn’t return until 9 PM. where after draining the pool, they found Madhav’s body in an unresponsive state. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
Madhav body has been admitted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem. The police say that the statement of the family members will be taken, and further investigation will be carried out after.
