In a heart-breaking development, Congress MP of Jalandhar Santokh Singh Chaudhary died at the age of 76 after suffering a sudden heart attack. The incident took place during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Post this, Rahul Gandhi with other Congress leaders left for the hospital and on getting the news of demise, he put his Bharat Jodo Yatra at a halt for the time being. Santokh will be cremated tomorrow at 11 am in his native village Dhaliwal.

The video that has surfaced clearly shows Chaudhary Santokh Singh normally walking with other Congress leaders in the yatra. After walking for about 300 metres, he fell on the ground at 8:25 am. People picked him up and was taken to the nearest hospital in an ambulance. Santokh Singh passed away at around 8:45 am.

Talking about the same Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said that Chaudhary Santokh Singh was completely fine in the morning. He even raised slogans on the stage while addressing public. He further added that Santokh Singh while having a conversation with Tamil Nadu’s MP Jyoti fell down. After this, he was rushed to the hospital where doctors said that he suffered a sudden heart failure and died on the way.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached Chaudhary Santokh Singh's house situated near Football Chowk. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by Punjab Congress President Raja Warding. He met Santokh Singh's son Vikramjeet Singh Chaudhary and his wife. Congress veteran leaders Charanjit Singh Channi, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Harish Chowdhary, Rana Gurjit Singh, Tejinder Bittu, Sushil Rinku, Rajinder Berry, Avtar Henry, Bawa Henry, Pargat Singh and other leaderships were also present.
