According to Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Chetan Sakariya, the money he gained from the 2021 Indian Premier League has aided his father's treatment. After being bought for INR 1.20 crores, the 23-year-old made his IPL debut for Sanju Samson's RR.

The left-arm speedster from Bhavnagar didn't waste any time in sending a his earnings to his family.The seamer said that the IPL has helped him get back on his feet during his recent "toughest time.”



“I was blessed enough that I had received a portion of my payment from Rajasthan Royals a few days earlier. Sakariya said, "I immediately transferred money back home, and that is helping my family the most in my most difficult time.”

Chetan Sakariya stated that cricket is his only source of income.

Sakariya, who is the sole breadwinner in his family, described cricket as his only source of income and how it has enabled him to provide his father with the care he requires.

“A lot of people are arguing that the IPL should be stopped. I'd like to inform them that I am the sole breadwinner in my family. Cricket is my sole source of income. Because of the money I received from IPL, I can provide better care for my father.

“It would have been more difficult for me if this tournament hadn't happened for a month. “I come from a poor family; my father has always driven tempo; and my entire life was about to change because of IPL,” he added.

Sakariya took seven wickets in seven games for the Royals before the tournament was suspended, including a pair of three-wicket hauls. He took three wickets for 31 runs in his first game against Punjab Kings, dismissing KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Jhye Richardson.

Against the Chennai Super Kings, he took three wickets, dismissing Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, and MS Dhoni. Prior to the IPL, Sakariya had just 16 T20 matches under his belt, in which he took 28 wickets and a five-wicket haul for Saurashtra.
