After IT raids on aides of MP CM, Chidambaram next on the list

In his tweet Chidambaram said that he expected raids soon at his home in Tamil Nadu, claiming that the ruling BJP's intention is to "cripple the campaign" before the national election that starts on Thursday

Former Attorney General and Finance Minister of India P Chidambaram tweeted his speculation of being the next target of the Income tax department on Sunday. The tweet came as the aftermath of the pre-dawn raids conducted by the IT department on the close aids and OSD of Madhya Pradesh Cheif Minister Kamal Nath- Praveen Kakkar and RK Miglani.

In his tweet he said that he expected raids soon at his home in Tamil Nadu, claiming that the ruling BJP's intention is to "cripple the campaign" days before the National Election that starts on Thursday.

However, the congress leader is accused of clearing foreign investments when he was finance minister in 2007 and whose son Karti Chidambaram is also being investigated for allegedly asking for bribes to use his father's influence to regularize investments.

In a series of tweet he quoted "I have been told that the IT department has plans to raid my residence in Sivaganga constituency and in Chennai. We will welcome the search party," tweeted  P Chidambaram. "The IT department knows that we have nothing to hide. They and other agencies have searched our residences before and found nothing. The intention is to cripple the election campaign," the congress leader tweeted.

The Election commission on Sunday has already inculcated the investigation and enforcement agencies under the Finance Ministry to make sure that their pre-poll raids stay politically unbiased, and ordered that its officials be informed in advance prior to any such exercise is undertaken.
