A 19-year-old boy was chased for 25 km and was killed by 5 men identified as cow vigilantes. These cow vigilantes mistook the victim as a cow smuggler and shot him dead on 23rd August in Faridabad, Haryana.
The victim of the case is identified as Aryan Mishra, a 12th class student. On 23rd August around midnight, Aryan was out with his friends Harshit and Shanky in a Duster car. He went to have some noodles with his friends.
This incident took place in Delhi-Agra highway where the 5 cow vigilantes chased Aryan’s car for around 25 km. Aryan’s friend Harshit was driving the car. Aryan was sitting next to him. Shanky was sitting in the back seat with two women.
The accused were identified as Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh and Saurav by the Faridabad Police. Accused told the Police that they had received an information about the cow smugglers. According to the information received by the cow vigilantes, some cow smugglers were out in their Duster and Fortuner SUV cars for conducting surveillance in the city.
Before this incident, Police revealed that Harshit and Shanky were previously involved in a dispute with a man and a case was also registered against Shanky. When the cow vigilantes noticed the victim’s car, the accused signaled him to stop the car. But Harshit mistook it as the man he and Shanky had a dispute with. So, they didn’t stop the car and tried to escape.
Now, the cow vigilantes were convinced and presumed them as the cow smugglers and started chasing them. They started open firing on the victim’s car and a bullet passed through the rear window of the car and struck Aryan Mishra. After this Harshit, who was driving the car, pulled over. The cow vigilantes approached them and shot into Aryan’s chest. Aryan died on the spot.
The Faridabad Police also revealed that initially the accused cow vigilantes tried to mislead the police by saying that they had thrown their murder weapon into a canal. However, later the police recovered the murder weapon from Anil's residence. Curretly, these 5 accused men are arrested by the Faridabad Police.
