Further tightening the noose around the gangsters, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr. Swapan Sharma has arrested a key associate of dreaded gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya after a fierce encounter and recovered a huge cache of arms from him.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police said that based on a tip off Jaskaran Gujjar alias Kannu, a close associate of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya, was arrested from Rampur Billran. He said that Kannu informed them that they were planning some big crime in the city and illegal weapons were hidden at the back side of Hamilton Tower in the city, after which the police took him to the above said location. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that upon reaching the spot Kannu attacked the police party, in a bid to flee, after which the police party retaliated.
The Commissioner of Police said that during the encounter Jaskaran Gujjar alias Kannu sustained serious injuries. He said that the gangster was then rushed to hospital where he is undergoing treatment adding that two pistols were recovered from the accused at the place. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that 55 live rounds and eight magazines were recovered along with six pistols were recovered from Creta car of accused bearing number PB 08 DA 3232.
The Commissioner of Police said that in total seven pistols of 32 bore and one pistol of 30 bore have been recovered from the accused. He said that FIR No. 128 dated 12.08.2024 u/s 25-54-59 Arms Act Police Station Basti Bawa Khel Jalandhar was already registered against the accused. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that with this arrest, a total of 10 associates of this gang have been arrested and a total of 16 weapons have been recovered from them.
