The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has busted a gang involved in extorting money from people through Honey trap.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police said that the Police had got a lead that a gang involved in extorting money from people through honey trap. He said that this gang used to call people in hotels rooms and subsequently blackmailed them using recorded videos. Mr Swapan Sharma said that the Police party laid a trap and arrested three-members of gang near Nangal Shama Chowk in Jalandhar.
The Commissioner of Police said that the arrested criminals have been identified as Preet Kaur d/o Kamaljit Singh r/o HNO L51 Amrik Nagar Jalandhar, Aman w/o Rishav r/o Amrik Nagar opposite Raju Karyana Store Jalandhar and Mohini w/o Rakesh Kumar r/o Amrik Nagar opposite Raju Karyana Store Jalandhar. He said that a FIR number 44 dated 09-02-2024 u/s 384/420/120B/506 IPC has been registered against the accused at PS Rama Mandi Jalandhar. Mr Swapan Sharma said that no criminal background of the arrested accused has been traced so far.
The Commissioner of Police said that based on investigation it has also came into light that another criminal Dharminder Gill r/o Basti Bawa Khel Jalandhar was also a part of the crime. He said that raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused for which teams have already been constituted. Mr Swapan Sharma said that further investigation in the case is going on and the details will be shared later.
