In a significant move the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has busted an interstate gang involved in fake degree scam by recovering 196 fake degrees from two arrested accused.

Given the details, the Commissioner of Police said that Police has got a tip off that gang was operative in the city, which was dealing with fake degrees. He said that based on information the Police arrested Pushkar Goel, s/o Barinder Kumar Goel, r/o Main Bazar near Atta Chakki, Fattu Dhinga, Kapurthala, now residing at Kothi No. 96A, Green Park, Jalandhar, and Varinder Kumar, s/o Gurcharan, r/o HNo. 253, Mota Singh Nagar, Jalandhar. Mr Swapan Sharma said that a total of 196 fake degrees, 53 stamps, 16 passports, six laptops, three printers, one stamp-making machine, and eight mobile phones were recovered from them.

The Commissioner of Police said that Fir No. 203 dated 28.09.2024 u/s 318(2), 336(2), 338, 336(3), 340(2) BNS, has been registered at Police Station Sadar Jalandhar. He said that fake degrees were issued for various courses, including engineering, medical, management and others. Mr Swapan Sharma said that the gang operated across multiple states including *Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP and others. 

The Commissioner of Police said further investigations into the case has revealed nationwide network of fake degree suppliers. He said that further investigation into the case is going on and details will be shared later. Mr Swapan Sharma said that the two cases are already pending against prime accused in the case Pushkar Goel.
