Two dead as bus full of Char Dham Yatra pilgrims rams a trolley in Ludhiana

A bus full of pilgrims from Indore for Char Dham Yatra collided with a tipper trolley parked in the middle of the road on the National Highway near Chehlan village in Samrala, Ludhiana. Two are reported to have died in the accident that occurred early morning, between 5 to 5:30 AM. The deceased have been identified as Meenakshi (51) and Saroj Bala (54), residents of Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Around 15 passengers have been reported to been injured.

 

Witnesses say that the bus was completely destroyed in the accident and the passengers were screaming out of terror. It is being told that the said devotees were on a religious tour for about a month. Today the tour was going to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

 

Following the accident, people from nearby villages gathered on the spot and started relief work to rescue the passengers trapped in the bus. Samrala police also reached the spot and took the injured passengers to the Civil Hospital of Samrala. In this accident, two female passengers reportedly died on the spot while another passenger is in critical condition.

 

One of the villagers who reached the spot for relief work said that the accident happened around 5-5:30 in the morning and after hearing noise, the people of the village immediately reached the spot for rescue work. Samrala SHO Rao Barinder Singh said that he got information about this accident at around 5 in the morning and he immediately reached the spot with a police force.
