Dilip Joshi started his career as a backstage artist on the commercial stage. For each of his roles, he used to get a fee of only Rs 50. However, he was so fond of theatre that he used to work happily even for this amount. His hard work and luck paid off and today he is at the stage that charges up to Rs 1.5 lakh per episode. Dilip Joshi was a part of Gujarati theatre for about 25 years. His last play was 'Daya Bhai Do Dhaya', which ended in 2007. 

After this, he remained unemployed for a year and got Jethalal's offer in 2008. Even though actor Dilip Joshi is seen in a very simple style in the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, who lives a luxurious life. But in reality, he lives a luxurious life. As of today, he is the owner of assets worth about 40 crores. He has a luxurious house in Goregaon East. Along with this, they also have many expensive vehicles. His cars include Audi Q7 and Toyota Innova.
