Punjabi music industry ace singer Diljit Dosanjh on Tuesday has hit back at Congress MP Ravneet Bittu, who had lodged a complaint against Diljit and Jazzy B for inciting youth of Punjab to take up arms and fight for Khalistan through their songs.

Dosanjh came out in defense of his song ‘Rangroot’, part of the movie ‘Punjab 1984’—a clip from which he had recently put up on social media memorizing the abhorrent attack on the most revered Sikh shrine Golden Temple aka Operation Blue Star 1984.

Posting a video in response Diljit can be heard saying, "The song that has caused controversy is from the 2014 Punjabi film 'Punjab 1984', which has been cleared by the Censor Board of India.”

“It was released all over India soon after and the big thing is that the film has won a National Award and then how the song of that film is being called controversial. Isn’t Bittu aware of it? I don’t understand how this has become an issue now,” asked Diljit.

Diljit added that when the Indian government has passed his film and it had been shown in cinema houses and on TV channels, how can a complaint be registered against him in this regard?

Diljit said that he is a tax-paying citizen of India and is fully with Punjab and India in all difficult times and will continue to be so.

Bittu had urged Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to file FIRs against singers Diljit Dosanjh and Jazzy Bains and Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh for “openly supporting” Pannu and his organization’s demand for Khalistan. In a statement, he said the “letter written” by Pannu to China proved that “they empathise with China and condemn India for the violent face-off”.
