IPL 2021: Dinesh Karthik Reveals ‘KKR Paid For My Excess Baggage When I Arrived From England’

Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik may have been out of the national squad for a while. In recent months, though, he has fully delighted cricket fans with his commentary talents. In June, at the World Test Championship final between New Zealand and India in India, the famous cricketer made his commentary debut. Karthik quickly became a fan favourite, with his precise analysis and witty comments being dubbed "a breath of fresh air.”

Karthik received a lot of attention for his trendy clothes in addition to his brilliance with the microphone. The dashing batter wore a variety of outfits during his first commentary stint in England, giving fans fashion goals. Karthik's colleague commentator and former England captain Michael Atherton said that the Indian batsman had travelled to the UK with 17 bags as a result of this.

Despite Karthik's claim in a tweet that he didn't have many suitcases, the 36-year-old nonetheless had a lot of luggage. In relation to this, the player disclosed that his extra luggage was paid by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Karthik flew straight from England to UAE for the second leg of IPL 2021.

“KKR was kind enough to pay for the additional luggage, so it was good.” (smiles, on being asked how he carried all his suitcases back from England). Karthik told Star Sports ahead of KKR's game against Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi, "It was a fantastic journey to come here and I am really enjoying being amongst the boys."


Karthik also discussed his relationship with KKR captain Eoin Morgan. We've developed a fantastic partnership (him and Eoin Morgan). Between overs, he asks me a few questions about the route we should go, and I provide my opinion, after which he makes a choice that he is satisfied with. As captain and vice-captain, there is a wonderful camaraderie there, and the sync is good,” he said.

Meanwhile, KKR had a bad start to the IPL 2021 season, winning only two of their seven games. However, they got off to a great start in the UAE, thrashing Royal Challengers Bangalore by nine wickets in their opening match. They continued their fantastic run against MI and won match by 7 wickets.
