Lok Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Rinku on Monday said that domestic flights would fly soon from the Adampur Civil Airport. 

Taking stock of the newly built terminal of Adampur Civil Airport alongwith Deputy commissioner Mr. Vishesh sarangal, MP said that the terminal was ready and domestic flight operations would resume in the coming month for which he had also recently taken up the matter with the Ministry of Civil Aviation. 

Rinku said that air connectivity would boost the economic activities in the Doaba region in terms of industrial development, export, employment, real estate, and others. He also said that this would facilitate NRIs to remain connected with their families here besides saving their time, money, and energy. 

He also held detailed deliberations with officials of the Airport Authority of India regarding the new terminal and flight operations. 

Earlier, Rinku also inspected the ongoing work of four-laning of the approach road which would connect the airport directly with Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur National Highway. He said that the work on the 4.30-km stretch under Phase-1 was going in full swing and this would be ready by next month. 

He said that the Punjab government had already released Rs 21 crore out of Rs 41 crore for the project. He also said that he would meet the railway minister and would request to build an ROB on the railway crossing falling on this stretch. 

About the pending land acquisition of 1.25 km of land in Damunda and Kandola villages under phase-II of the project, MP Sushil Rinku said that the exercise was in the final stage and the social impact assessment was also completed. He said that he would soon take up the matter with high-ups in this regard. Once the land is acquired, the tenders for the second phase will be floated soon.
