Shahid Kapoor's Ludhiana connection
Neha Dhupia asked Shahid about his early life when he joined choreographer Shiamak Davar's team. She asked whether everyone knew that he was actor Pankaj Kapur's son and despite that, he was made to stand in the last during the dance performance or not.
On this, Shahid Kapoor said, "See, everybody says this 'Pankaj Kapur ka Beta' and all that but you know character actors don't have any power. Only stars, superstars, film producers, and big directors have power. So, it's not a big deal. Secondly, I actually sit with my mom. So, I never told anybody because my parents were separated there was a sole pride thing like I didn't wanna say anything to anybody. I never told anybody. I told my dad that I signed a film after I signed a film. He did not even know."
"My grandfather (Dadaji) was a lecturer in Ludhiana, Punjab. His son wanted to become an actor which was actually an impossible dream and his father told him 'beta' you are on your own. You go figure it out, I am with you but you are on your own. If you are worthy you will get there. That relationship is like I have with my dad."
"I did not want Ishan Khatter to be an AD on Udta Punjab sets"
Shahid further narrated that he did not want Ishan Khatter to be on the sets of Udta Punjab as an Assistant Director. "I was doing the role of a cocaine addict. I don't even know how to drink. So, I am like this is the most challenging film I am doing. I don't know if I got the character right. I don't want the baggage of having my brother," said Shahid Kapoor.
Shahid also revealed that Ishan Khatter tested positive for Typhoid during the Udta Punjab sets as he drank water from a handpump.
