As England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) contemplates an amount of punishment for the fast bowler, it is anticipated that Ollie Robinson will be slapped or banned with a fine or a combination of both after his old controversial tweet went viral on the day he debuted in the test series.

According to reports in the British media, it is said that it is uncertain that Robinson could evade penalty with just a verbal warning with the ECB hoping to move with words on its policy of zero-tolerance against any form of discrimination.

Robinson had made those tweets as a youth aged 18 but they circulated again and went viral on Wednesday, on the day of his Test debut. He has, however, apologised for those comments as an 18-year-old when he was trialling with Yorkshire having earlier been released by Kent.

Former England umpire John Holder too has strongly criticized the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) statement that Holder and his fellow umpire Ismail Dawood have withdrawn the allegations of institutional racism levelled against the board. have taken.

Speaking to a media agency, Umpire Holder, 'Our case against the ECB was dismissed on legal technical grounds. I have not retracted any claim made by me. The reader, unconcerned by the tone of the ECB's statement, will have the impression that we have accepted their version of events and have retracted. This is not the case at all. We are convinced that the ECB is institutionally racist.

“After reading the statement I knew that I cannot work with these people. There is nothing to be believed here. They do not want to learn from my experiences; They want to silence me and give the impression that things are settled. It is misleading and fraudulent,” he added.

The Yorkshire spokesman was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying, “Ollie Robinson signed a junior professional contract with Yorkshire on September 19, 2013, before leaving in July 2014, playing three List A and seven T20 matches."

“The club was unaware of these posts on Ollie’s social media channels before he signed and strongly condemn such comments. There is no place in our society or our sport for racism or sexism,” the spokesperson added.

Holder and Ismail Dawood had filed a lawsuit last year against the ECB for alleged racial bias during their tenure. Both accused the ECB of indulging in institutional racism.

Robinson's outstanding performance on the field has been overpowered by those distasteful tweets.

The 27-year-old has grabbed four wickets in the first innings and then listed the second-highest score when England came to bat – 42 of 101.
