An effigy named 'Coronasur' to be burnt during Holika Dahan today in Mumbai

To ward off the evil of Coronavirus from the country, Mumbai's BDD Chawl in Worli will burn an effigy of 'Coronasur' during the Holika Dahan event today.

Coronasur has been named after the novel coronavirus, which started from China. Witty word play has been used by the members as 'asura' means demon.

Covid-19 has claimed more than 3600 people and infected 107,800 people. So far, India has reported the 42 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

According to the Hindu mythology, Holi is celebrated to mark the killing of Holika by Lord Vishnu in order to save his devotee Prahlad. The story symbolises the power of faith and worship against evil.

Earlier in 2018, the BDD Chawl residents had burnt an effigy of Nirav Modi, the fugitive Indian businessman who is on the run in India's largest bank scam - the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case.
