Effigy of Lord Rama was burnt instead of Ravana on Dussehra in Amritsar, police nab 4 miscreants

The police have registered an FIR in this regard late on Tuesday

An unfortunate incident has come to light from district Amritsar's village Manawala where on the eve of Dussehra a few miscreants burnt the effigies of Lord Rama instead of Ravana to celebrate the triumph of good over evil. 

After the event was cognized by officials, a complaint was lodged against the miscreants and the police has started the probe into the case. So far, police has nabbed 4 offenders while the other 10 are absconding. However, a manhunt has been launched by the police. 

Meanwhile, Lopoke police said that few wrongdoers have been arrested in Manawala village on the charge of burning the effigy of Lord Rama on Dussehra.

The police have registered an FIR in this regard late on Tuesday on the charge of inciting religious sentiments. 

Meanwhile, DSP Guru Pratap Singh Sahota said that the accused appearing in the video are being identified. According to the police, someone this sent video to Sub Inspector Harpal Singh from on Tuesday night in which few people were spotted lighting fire to the Lord Rama's effigy.
