Election Results 2024 Update: BJP-led Mahayuti set for historic mandate in Maharashtra, INDIA-bloc stretches lead in Jharkhand

As per ECI's trends, BJP-led NDA is all set to get a historic mandate in Maharashtra and the situation for Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA is not looking good.

The counting for votes for Maharashtra Elections 2024 and Jharkhand Elections 2024 started at 8 am on Saturday and the early trend is showing mixed bag results for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA. As per the Election Commission of India's Early Trend (12:30 pm), BJP-led NDA is all set to get a historic mandate in Maharashtra and the situation for Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA is not looking good. On the other hand, the BJP-led NDA has been struggling in Jharkhand as the Hemant Soren-led India block in the state is leading far ahead. 

As per the Election Commission, BJP is leading on 126 seats in Maharashtra, Shinde Sena-led Shiv Sena is leading on 55 seats, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP is leading on 38 seats. On the other hand, Udhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena is leading on 19 seats, and Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar - NCPSP is leading on 13 seats. 

Coming to Jharkhand Elections 2024, BJP is leading on 29 seats, Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is leading on 28 seats, Congress is leading on 14 seats while RJD is leading on 4 seats. 

It is pertinent to mention here that Maharashtra has multiple faction groups fighting the polls. The ruling party is the Mahayuti alliance of the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Ajit Pawar camp of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). On the other hand, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Opposition bloc comprises the Congress and the breakaway factions of Sena and NCP, led by Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar, respectively. In the 288-seated Maharashtra Assembly, the majority mark is 145. In Jharkhand the majority mark is 41 which has 81 seats in the Assembly.
