The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) term-1 board examinations are scheduled to commence from November 15, regarding which a circular has also been issued.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, CBSE has decided to conduct the board examination for the 10th and 12th in two terms, the first term to be held from November 15.

The second term examinations will take place in March-April next year. Soon CBSE is also expected to release the subject's datasheet.

So, let us understand, what is going to change in the pattern of the board exam this time? What has changed in the syllabus? How will the practical exam be? On what basis will the marks be given if the school is opened and closed due to Corona? And all the other questions related to the exam.

What has changed in the pattern?

CBSE has come with a few biggest changes. Firstly, board exams will be conducted in two phases like that of the semester system in the college.

With the change in timing pattern, a decision to change the syllabus has also been taken up. The top educational body has decided to divide the syllabus in half and will be distributed for the two terms.

The first term exam will be conducted from November 15 to December 15. At the same time, the second term exam will be held between March-April 2022.
The final result will be prepared by combining the marks of both terms.

What has changed in the syllabus?

On the basis of the pattern, the syllabus is also divided into two parts.

The syllabus is divided about half-and-half into both terms. When CBSE announced the change in the pattern, it was only then that the syllabus would be rationalized i.e. the syllabus would be reduced.

Students can also check details on the syllabus by visiting the CBSE website given below to know what has changed in the syllabus.

Marks distribution if schools are opened for the second term?

If schools are opened for the second term, the weightage of marks for term-1 will be reduced, whereas the weightage of marks for term-2 might get increased.

Marks distribution if schools remain closed in both terms?

In such a case, the final result will be prepared based on internal assessment, practical project and theory marks. Whether the exams will be held online or offline is yet to be decided.

Does pen or pencil have to be used in the OMR sheet?

The term-1 paper will be MCQ based, which will have to be filled on the OMR sheet. Students will have to use a pen to fill the circle on the OMR sheet.

What if the wrong answer is marked with the pen?

An option to correct the wrong answer will be given to the student.

A blank space will be given against the four circles of each question. Students will be able to fill the correct circle by cutting out the wrong circle. By doing this, students could write the correct answer in that blank space.

For example, the correct answer for a question was B, but you marked the circle for A. To correct your mistake, mark the circle of B by cutting A. Write B in the space given next to the four circles.

How will the practical exam be held?

The practical exam for term-1 will be conducted by the school only. If the pandemic situation improves, then CBSE will conduct the practical exam of term-2.

Will it be necessary to solve all the questions?

Students can get options in term-1. That is, if there are 50 questions, then a student can be asked to do any 45 questions. CBSE has also uploaded the sample papers on the website similarly.

Where will the exam centres be?

A decision on preparing the examination centre is underway. It is believed that due to the decline in the Covid-19 cases across the country, students can be called to give exams in their schools or at a nearby centre. The decision on the exam centres will be taken given the protocol laid down for the social distancing and coronavirus.

The news is based on the information shared by CBSE and media reports. For more details, students are advised to contact their school.
