Following the arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra in the case of allegedly spying for Pakistan, an image of her has gone viral on social media. The image shows Jyoti Malhotra dressed in a BJP cap and scarf featuring the logo of the political party. Along with this, this image also featured the logo of the Hindi news channel Aaj Tak.
According to certain reports, this image was circulating to portray that the Haryana-based YouTuber was somewhere affiliated with the BJP.
The details of the image were checked by the Fact Check Unit of the Press Trust of India (PTI).
Claim -
The viral image of Jyoti Malhotra with a BJP cap and scarf was originally shared by a Facebook user named ‘Kamlesh Singh’ on May 18. As previously mentioned, the image also has Aaj Tak's logo.
It is to be noted that this image was circulated on social media after the female YouTuber, along with five other people, were arrested by the police officials on charges of treason.
Notably, the person who shared it captioned it with a caption in Hindi language.
Investigation -
A detailed investigation was conducted by the team by going through Aaj Tak's social media handles, and the same image was found on some other faces. Following this, it was also highlighted that the extra glossy texture of the image also proves that this image was generated with the help of artificial intelligence.
Fact Check -
Therefore, it was concluded that this was an AI-generated image and the claims were FAKE.
