Team India on Thursday landed in New Delhi and was hosted by PM Modi at his residence. PM Modi had invited the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 champions at his official residence over breakfast and interacted with the Men In Blue. Apart from interaction, PM Modi also met Team India players' families and also posed for photos with them. In the meantime, multiple photos are going viral on social media with the claims that it was Congress leader Sonia Gandhi who hosted Team India when they won T20 World Cup in 2007. Users are pointing out that despite Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India, it was Sonia Gandhi who hosted the World Champions led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Another user shared the pic with the caption, "A rare Pic of Indian cricket team Captain Sonia Gandhi with her Teammates after successfully leading India in the 2007 Cricket World Cup & her match-winning all-round performance in the Final."
"I am not big fan of cricket but I want to simply ask one question in what capacity Sonia Gandhi Taking picture with Cricket team Is Man Mohan Singh was PM or Acting PM of India that time ??" asked another user.
What is the truth behind viral Team India's pic with Sonia Gandhi?
On digging Getty, the description of the viral pic said that then Chairperson of India's UPA Government and Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi posed for a photo with the Indian cricket team during a meeting at Gandhi's residence in New Delhi, 30 October 2007.
However, the claims that Team India was hosted by Sonia Gandhi and not Manmohan Singh is misleading. As per reports, a picture was published on 31 October 2007 and it carried images of the team with then PM Manmohan Singh. It also stated that Manmohan Singh was accompanied by Ambika Soni, Prithviraj Chavan, Rajeev Shukla, and more.
True Scoop News tried to dig deep and it found pictures of Team India being welcomed by (then) PM Manmohan Singh in PMO's archived pics.
