Social media has buzzing with the topic Zomato Name Change after reports on Thursday night surfaced that India's food delivery app's name has now been changed. Reports confirmed that Zomato, a food delivery app, has changed its name to Eternal. The company's board decided to change the name on Thursday. For this, approval of shareholders, ministry and other necessary officials is pending.

Zomato Co-founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal wrote a letter to the shareholders. He said that the board has approved the name change. Now the approval of the shareholders is awaited. If everything goes well, the address of the company's website will change from 'Zomato.com' to 'Eternal.com'.  As a result, millions of users in India started to wonder whether Zomato would not be called Eternal. However, this is not the truth.

Will Zomato be now called Eternal?

The answer is no. The name of the food delivery app Zomato will remain the same. However, the address of the company's website will change from 'Zomato.com' to 'Eternal.com'. Deepinder Goyal said that four main businesses will run under Eternal- Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure, and District. Zomato took to its X handle and issued a clarification that reads, "guys eternal is the parent company - the app will remain zomato."

Use of 'Eternal' since the acquisition of Blinkit

The company has been using the name 'Eternal' internally since the acquisition of Blinkit. This name was being used to differentiate between the company and the brand/app. Goyal had said that when any other business other than Zomato becomes more important for the company, then the name of the company will be changed to 'Eternal'. Now the same has happened with Blinkit. Therefore, the name of the company is being changed from 'Zomato Limited' to 'Eternal Limited'.

Goyal further said, "When we acquired Blinkit, we started using Eternal instead of Zomato among ourselves to differentiate between the company and the brand/app. We also thought that the day anything other than Zomato becomes an important driver of our future, we will publicly change the name of the company to Eternal."

He also clarified, "Today, with Blinkit I think we have reached there. We would like to change the name of the company (not the brand/app) from Zomato Limited to Eternal Limited.'

Deepinder Goyal's letter reads, "Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to. Because ‘Eternal’ carries both a promise and a paradox. True permanence isn’t built on bold claims of invincibility or the swagger of success. It is forged in the quiet understanding that our immortality stems from our mortality — because the day we think we will last forever simply because we declare it, we begin our end."
